Why does my dog still smell even after a bath?

Why bathe a dog at all?

How often should you bathe a dog?…

To answer your questions, let’s find out together with BTM PET SHOP:

Why does my dog still smell even after a bath? Every dog has different daily habits and its own natural body scent. Some dogs haven’t been bathed in ages but still smell pleasant, while others still smell right after a bath. This often comes down to diet — some ingredients, once absorbed, get secreted through scent glands and create an unpleasant odor; heavy exercise causes sweating, and grime that smells clings to the fur; or the owner doesn’t know the right bathing technique, which should include expressing the anal glands and cleaning the ears, the webbing between the toes, and the paw pads; or an unsuitable shampoo was used.

Why bathe a dog at all? Simply because we like things clean and fresh-smelling — especially when we get to hug our four-legged friends and catch that lovely shampoo scent, it makes us feel a little happier about life. But that’s the state right after a bath. Now picture several days without one. All you can say is “oh my goodness,” how did it get this bad — the fur is a tangled mess, grime everywhere, an unpleasant smell clinging to your whole house, and your dog looking like it just wandered in off the street. With so much else going on, seeing them like that becomes something you can’t shake, and you can’t bring yourself to play with them; you feel down, and they feel down too. Do you really want to end up in that kind of bittersweet situation?

How often should you bathe a dog? As mentioned above, every dog has different habits and body odor, so the ideal bathing frequency and how long the fresh scent lasts afterward will vary. But on average, once or twice a month works for most dogs. If you prefer them to smell fresher, or if your dog naturally has a stronger body odor, 2–4 baths a month may be better.

For women, bathing a dog yourself can leave your hands feeling rougher from the friction, and drying your four-legged friend can take quite a while. And if the men in the house are too busy with work and don’t have the time either — remember us! BTM PET SHOP — Where Happy Experiences Meet Pets. We’ll happily bathe and groom your four-legged friend for you. Come by and experience it with us.
